Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Numari ("Numari", "we", "us") governing your use of the Numari mobile application ("the App") and this website. By downloading, installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. Because the App keeps all of your data on your own device, these Terms are deliberately short and specific.

1. Who can use Numari

You may use the App if you can form a binding contract in your country and are at least the minimum age required there to do so (at least 13, or the higher age set by your local law or by the app store you download from). If you are a minor, use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

2. What Numari is — and is not

Numari is a personal finance tracker. It records and analyses transactions you enter or import, and stores them in a local database inside the App's private storage on your device. Numari has no user accounts and no server-side storage of your data. It does not connect to your bank, does not use credential-based bank sync, and does not sync between devices. The only optional network feature is live exchange rates, which is off by default and is described in the privacy policy. Anything the App does with information is set out in that policy, which forms part of these Terms.

3. Your data and backups are your responsibility

Because your data exists only on your device, keeping it safe is in your hands. The App provides export and backup tools (JSON backup and CSV export); use them. We cannot recover, restore or access data that was never sent to us — there is no server that holds a copy. Deleting the App, resetting or losing your device, or using "Delete all data" removes the data permanently. You are responsible for the accuracy of the figures you enter or import.

4. The App store is the seller

You obtain the App through the Apple App Store or Google Play ("the Store"). Your download and any purchase are also subject to the Store's own terms, and the Store — not Numari — processes your payment and acts as merchant of record. Where these Terms and the Store's terms conflict for a purchase, the Store's billing terms control that purchase.

5. Free version and Numari Pro

  • The core App is free to use.
  • Numari Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks additional features. During the current preview, Pro features may be unlocked for everyone while billing is still being set up; this is temporary and not a promise of permanent free access.
  • When Pro billing is live, it is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Store. The price and billing period are shown in the Store before you confirm, and may vary by region and over time. Payment is charged to your Store account at confirmation.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Store account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Manage or cancel at any time in your Store subscription settings (App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play: Menu → Payments & subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by the Store under its refund policy, not by us.

6. EU/UK right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Because a Pro subscription gives you immediate access to digital features, by starting your subscription you ask us to begin supply immediately and acknowledge that your withdrawal right ends once supply has begun, to the extent permitted by law. This does not affect Store-level refund rights or your mandatory statutory rights.

7. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, as permitted by the Store's usage rules. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the App or this site unlawfully, to infringe others' rights, to interfere with or attempt to compromise their normal operation or security, or to misrepresent the App as your own. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including any tax obligations relating to how you use the figures the App helps you organise.

9. Intellectual property

The App and site, including their software, design, text, the Numari name and the Numari logo, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you no rights in them except the licence above. Your data is yours — we claim no rights over anything you enter or import, and we never receive it in the first place.

10. Disclaimer — not financial advice

Numari displays and organises figures you provide or import. Nothing in the App or on this site is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. Exchange rates shown when the optional live-rates feature is on come from public third-party sources and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Verify anything important independently before relying on it.

11. Warranty disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App and site are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you; where mandatory consumer guarantees apply, they remain in force.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App or site — including data loss caused by device failure, deletion or reinstallation of the App, or the absence of a backup. Where we are found liable despite the above, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 20. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-excludable statutory consumer rights.

13. Apple App Store — additional terms

If you download the App from the Apple App Store, the following also apply and, to the extent they conflict with the rest of these Terms for App Store users, they prevail:

  • These Terms are between you and Numari only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App; support is provided by Numari via the support page.
  • If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any) to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App, and any other claims relating to the App are our responsibility, not Apple's.
  • Numari, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product-liability, legal-compliance and consumer-protection claims, and any claim that the App infringes intellectual-property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you as a user.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end the licence if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (for example ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and the updated Terms apply from your next use of the App or site. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it in the App or on this site. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the entity that publishes Numari is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, which continue to apply. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, without prejudice to any right you have to bring proceedings in your home courts where local law guarantees it.
